A brief post today that’s not about politics because I’m on vacation, but I wanted to share a celebration of my most amazing husband. We’ve been together for over 26 years and will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in June. He wanted to go to Las Vegas for his birthday, and so here we are - after some travel challenges - and ready to be out on the town.
We have tickets to see RuPaul’s Drag Race Live tonight at the Flamingo, which we’re very excited about. We’re not gamblers, so the most we’ll do is walk through the casino part of the various resorts. The last time I was in Vegas was in 1976 when I was 19 years old, so a LOT has changed.
Here are some pics of us over the years.
We met in the fall of 1998 and had our first date on Christmas Eve that year. This was taken on our first trip to meet his mom in May, 1999.
Our commitment ceremony in June 2000 is what we consider the start of our marriage, although we wouldn’t become legal until California’s Proposition 8 was overturned in 2013. We were married the first time at the Metropolitan Community Church in San Francisco.
Our second wedding ceremony, which I wrote about on February 15, was at San Francisco City Hall on February 13, 2004. This is a photo of us with then-mayor Gavin Newsom at the party that San Francisco held for all the newlyweds that weekend.
Vacationing in Honolulu in 2021.
In San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2024. We do love to travel!
Happy Birthday, my love!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, G!!!
The last time I was in Vegas, I took a picture of a sign with Liberace's show times!!!
Have a wonderful trip.
Love you guys and it hasn't been the same since you left.
